Chloe Moretz will join Zac Efron in Universal’s comedy sequel “Neighbors 2,” TheWrap has learned.

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne will return for the film, though plot details are being kept under wraps.

A supporting role may be good for Moretz, who has not fared well striking out on her own in films such as “Carrie” and “If I Stay.” Sony’s upcoming sci-fi adaptation “The 5th Wave” will serve as a true test of her star power.

Nicholas Stoller returns to direct from a script he co-wrote with Andrew Jay Cohen, Brendan O’Brien, Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Rogen and Goldberg will return to produce under their Point Grey banner along with trusted collaborator James Weaver. Cohen and O’Brien will serve as executive producers alongside Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake.

The original “Neighbors” grossed more than $269 million worldwide and the studio has high hopes for the sequel, which will hit theaters on May 13, 2016.
