Christina Aguilera, Matthew Rutler Ink First Look Deal With Lionsgate TV (Exclusive)

The engaged couple will develop and produce both scripted and unscripted projects with the studio

Christina Aguilera and fiancé Matthew Rutler’s production company, MX, has entered into a first look deal with Lionsgate Television for both scripted and unscripted projects, TheWrap has learned.

In fact, the famous duo have been developing and pitching under the radar in a Lionsgate TV pact for a year and the deal was recently renewed for a second year by the studio.

Under the partnership, the couple has already sold “Hearts and Clubs” (Working Title) to ABC Family. The drama, which follows the intertwining lives of Las Vegas entertainers, was being pursued by several networks. Written by “Jake in Progress” creator Austin Winsberg, Aguilera and Rutler executive produce alongside Winsberg and Prospect Park.

Additionally, the team has a number of scripted and unscripted projects in development at Lionsgate.

Aguilera, who released her first album in 1999 at the age of 19, is currently starring as a coach on NBC’s “The Voice.” She has starred in films “Get Him to the Greek” and “Burlesque,” opposite Cher, and she’s currently shooting a three-episode arc on ABC’s “Nashville.”

Rutler cut his teeth on numerous film productions, including “The Social Network,” “The Town,” “Grown Ups,” “The Proposal” and “Empire State.”

CAA represents Aguilera and Rutler.
