Cinedigm and New Video Nab Rights to Horror Film ‘Citadel’

“Citadel” recently won the “Midnighter Audience Award” at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival

Cinedigm and New Video have jointly acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the horror film "Citadel," the partners said Thursday.

The film centers on a young father who becomes afflicted with chronic agoraphobia after his wife is brutally killed by a gang of twisted feral children. He later finds himself terrorized by the same gang, who are intent on taking his baby daughter.

"Citadel" marks the writing and directing debut of Ciaràn Foy, and recently won the “Midnighter Audience Award” at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival.

The "Citadel" deal also stands as the first scripted acquisition for Cinedigm. At this year's Sundance Film Festival, the company announced that it was partnering with New Video to acquire and distribute independent films.
