Colbert Dings Trump for Similarities Between His Border Wall Warnings and the ‘Sicario’ Sequel

Did Trump see “Sicario: Day of the Soldado”?

Stephen Colbert has a sneaking feeling that President Trump is getting some of his ideas about the U.S.-Mexican border from the movie “Sicario: Day of the Soldado.”

Earlier this month, Trump said that people crossing the border have “unbelievable vehicles” that are “stronger, bigger and faster” than anything we have. On Jan. 18, Trump tweeted that Muslim prayer rugs have been found at the border. And last week, Trump said that human traffickers tie women and children up with duct tape to smuggle them into the country.

People noticed a strong resemblance to scenes in the 2018 action movie “Sicario: Day of the Soldado.” So on “The Late Show” on Tuesday, Colbert wondered what other movies Trump might be getting border policy ideas from.

“I’m telling ya, little boys are sneaking aliens in with flying bicycles,” said Colbert, doing his Donald Trump impression while referencing “E.T. the Extraterrestrial.”

“We must build a wall out of vibranium slats,” Colbert continued, referencing the fictional metal from Marvel movies. “Otherwise we’ll be overrun by Crazy, Rich Asians.”
