‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Parodied by Conan O’Brien on Road Trip to San Diego Comic-Con (Video)

Even road warriors have a hard time following their GPS

Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter are ready for Comic-Con — and fans had better get out of their way.

The TBS late-night duo spoofed “Mad Max: Fury Road” for their Wednesday night cold open, with the sidekick driving his host from Burbank to San Diego. Their vehicle of choice, however, was something straight out of a horror movie — literally.

With a scary semi truck decked out with weaponry, rust and speakers, driver Richter donned the Hugh Keays-Byrne mask (which made it hard to drink his coffee), while O’Brien was tethered to the roof, jamming on a flame-throwing guitar (that also grilled hot dogs). Meanwhile, Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band provided the percussion from the back of the surely-not-street-legal vehicle.

Unfortunately, while cruising along, looking for a battle — or at least a comic book convention — the bloodthirsty rebels got lost and soon became very human. Richter blamed O’Brien’s loud axe jamming for drowning out his GPS.

It wasn’t easy to recover after blowing past San Clemente, getting off the 5, and totally missing La Jolla. But the gang eventually made it, and soon it was time for the actual show.

Conan’s guests last night were Elijah Wood and Chris Hardwick. Watch the video above.
