Crackle is adding another original show to its streaming arsenal, announcing “The Oath” — a 10-episode series exploring gangs and the cops that try to bring them down — from Executive Producer 50 Cent will debut next year on March 8.
The drama will star Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), Cory Hardrict (“American Sniper”), and Katrina Law (“Training Day”). 50 Cent and G-Unit Film & Television Inc. are producing the series, alongside Todd Hoffman, Dennis Kim, Anne Clements, and show creator Joe Halpin.
Halpin, who has also produced “Hawaii Five-O” and “Secrets and Lies,” has an in-depth knowledge of the world “The Oath” is set in; he worked for 17 years as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in South Central –with 12 years spent as an undercover cop. The show will draw on his experience combatting L.A. gangs and examine the relationship between cops and organized crime.
Michael Malarkey (“The Vampire Diaries”), Eve Mauro (“CSI Miami”), Kwame Patterson (“The Wire”), Linda Purl (“Homeland”) and Elisabeth Röhm (“Law & Order”) round out the cast.
The Sony-owned streaming network released a 45-second teaser trailer for “The Oath” on Thursday. Check it out here:
