“Sex And The City” star Cynthia Nixon will appear opposite Ewan McGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal in an upcoming revival of Tom Stoppard‘s “The Real Thing,” Roundabout Theater Company said Thursday.

The Tony and Emmy winner will play Charlotte, an actress who is unhappily married to a playwright. The show will debut at the American Airlines Theatre on October 2, 2014 and is directed by Sam Gold (“Picnic”).

Although best known for her television work, Nixon has been a frequent presence on the New York stages since making her Broadway debut in a 1984 production of “The Real Thing.” She pulled off that feat while simultaneously appearing in a production of “Hurlyburly.” That marked the first time an actress had appeared in two Broadway theaters, to act in two different plays at the same time.

She would go on to win a Tony in 2006 for her role in “Rabbit Hole” and received another Tony nomination for 2012’s “Wit.” Film roles include “Rampart,” “Lymelife” and the HBO movie “Too Big to Fail.”
