AMC’s newest drama “Into the Badlands” is set in a dystopian futurewhere guns have been outlawed and martial arts experts abound.
The mix of old and new world aesthetics is embodied in a new image released from the show, featuring star Daniel Wu wielding a sword while perched on a motorcycle.
In the series, Wu plays Sunny, a skilled warrior who finds a young boy named M.K. (Aramis Knight) locked in a box. The two embark on a journey to find enlightenment. During their spiritual adventure, Sunny initiates M.K. into the martial arts.
The series is set in a postapocalyptic world in which the United States has been stripped of its guns and is run by seven powerful Barons.
Loosely based on the Chinese tale “Journey to the West,” “Into the Badlands” is exec produced by co-creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, along with Stacey Sher, Michael Shamberg, Stephen Fung, Wu and David Dobkin.
Dobkin also directed the pilot.
Six episodes of “Into the Badlands” will air on AMC, starting on Sunday, Nov. 15.
