David Arquette suffered a gruesome injury during a wrestling “death match” in Los Angeles Friday night that resulted in him leaving the ring as blood poured from his neck.

Arquette — who became the WCW World Heavyweight Champion in 2000 to promote his wrestling movie “Ready to Rumble” — was up against Combat Zone Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Nick Gage in the match at GCW’s Joey Janela’s L.A. Confidential event Friday. Gage smacked him with a light-bulb tube, and the blow caused a cut to Arquette’s neck, which began to bleed profusely.

The actor then motioned that he was leaving. He returned to the ring shortly thereafter, but, according to PWInside.com, he later went to the hospital, where he got several stitches.

Arquette didn’t immediately respond to the TheWrap for comment and a status update.

Early Saturday morning, Arquette assured his fans he was fine.

After filming “Ready to Rumble,” Arquette was woven into WCW storylines in episodes of “Thunder” and “Nitro,” and the pay-per-view special “Slamboree.” In 2010, he made his WWE debut on “Raw,” teaming with Alex Riley.
