A familiar face is returning to WABC-TV.
J. David Davis has been named president and general manager the network's New York station, the network announced on Friday. It's a post he used to have until leaving to become executive vice president at ABC News in 2007.
Davis will assume his new position immediately. At ABC News, Davis oversaw a reorganization of the broadcast news division, that resulted in wide scale buyouts and layoffs, leaving the station 400 staffers lighter, according to TVNewser.
In his new post, Davis will oversee WABC-TV/Channel 7 and all of its ancillary businesses, including two additional digital TV channels (LiveWell HD and a local/regional weather channel); 7online.com, the station’s Internet site; and “Live! with Regis and Kelly,” the popular syndicated talk show produced by the station.
