‘Deadpool’ Red-Band Trailer Unleashes Holiday Badassery (Video)

Ryan Reynolds stars as the foul-mouthed Marvel superhero in the Feb. 12 release

Ryan Reynolds unleashes more badassery in the latest trailer for the R-rated Marvel superhero movie “Deadpool.” He begins by crawling into the front seat of a taxi and explaining the reason for his tight red body-suit.

“That’s because it’s Christmas Day,” he says, “and I’m after someone on the naughty list.”

Reynolds’ sharp-tongued superhero is joined in the new trailer by some other superpowered cohorts, including the silver-faced Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and a goth-styled teenager called Negasonic Teenage Warhead (newcomer Brianna Hildebrand).

“Deadpool” tells the origin story of the former Special Forces operative turned mercenary, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, he then hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Directed by Tim Miller, the film also stars Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein and Rachel Sheen.

Reynolds played Deadpool in the 2009 film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” Now, the actor reprises the role in “Deadpool,” set to be released by Marvel Enterprises and Twentieth Century Fox on Feb. 12.
