‘Dear White People’ Season 3 Trailer Has a Message From the Order of X: ‘Kill the Narrator’ (Video)

Yvette Nicole Brown and Laverne Cox are among next season’s guest stars

Netflix released the trailer for Season 3 of “Dear White People” on Friday, and it includes a powerful message from The Order of X: “Kill the narrator.”

“I see you’ve been watching closely. The order is more powerful than you’ll ever know. You must kill the narrator,” the voice of the Narrator, Giancarlo Esposito, say in the trailer. But his message isn’t as sinister as it sounds.

“The only voice you need in your head is your own,” he tells Samantha White (Logan Browning).

“Kill the narrator,” she says back to him, in awed-understanding. It’s a metaphor!

“Dear White People,” a Lionsgate Television production based on the 2014 film of the same name, takes place at a predominantly white Ivy League college, where a group of black students must navigate various forms of racial and other types of discrimination.

However, change is afoot in Season 3, which Samantha hints at in the trailer: “I’m done with Dear White People,” she says.

Browning, Marque Richardson, Brandon P. Bell, DeRon Horton, Antoinette Robertson, John Patrick Amedori and Ashley Blaine Featherson star, with narration from Esposito.

Yvette Nicole Brown, Laverne Cox, Blair Underwood and Flavor Flav will guest star on Season 3 of “Dear White People,” as will series creator Justin Simien.

Season 3 of “Dear White People” launches  Aug. 2 on Netflix. Watch the trailer here or above.
