The man who was found dead early Sunday in Demi Moore’s backyard pool has been identified as Edenilson Steven Valle, Craig Harvey of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office told TheWrap Monday.

Valle, a 21-year-old man from Los Angeles, had gone missing for 10 to 15 minutes during a party hosted by Moore’s assistant while the actress and her family members were away. He was discovered floating in the deep end of the pool. Family and friends said he did not know how to swim.

Los Angeles police were dispatched to the actress’ Beverly Crest home in west Los Angeles at approximately 5:20 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:44 a.m. The drowning was considered accidental.

“I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news,” Moore said in a statement to TheWrap on Sunday. “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time.”

Moore and family members were not home at the time of the accident.
