Diablo Cody to Make Feature Directorial Debut With Mandate’s ‘Lamb of God’

Mandate Pictures acquires Oscar-winner’s original screenplay; she’s set to direct

Diablo Cody has a mandate to direct.

Mandate Pictures has acquired her comedy, "Lamb of God," which the Oscar-winning writer will direct, Mandate announced Wednesday.

The movie is about a conservative woman who loses her once-strong faith after an airplane crash. She figures the best place for a sinner to live is Las Vegas. On her journey, she rediscovers her faith.

Mason Novick ("500 Days of Summer") is producing.

Mandate says the projet is on the fast track and is expected to begin casting soon.

Cody, Novick and Mandate worked together on "Juno," which won the screenwriter the Academy Award in 2008, and on "Young Adult," which Paramount is releasing in October.
