Dimension Films Remaking Korean Hit ‘The Man From Nowhere’

“The Man From Nowhere” is a South Korean action thriller that The Weinstein Company’s Dimension Films will remake in English

"The Man From Nowhere," an action thriller that was South Korea's highest-grossing movie of 2010, is being remade in English, Dimension Films said Thursday.

"We have always been huge action and martial arts fans and are getting back into the genre in a big way with 'The Man From Nowhere,' " Bob Weinstein, The Weinstein Company's co-chairman, said in a statement. "It's a slick, fast-paced action thriller anchored by a strong emotional relationship that audiences are going to love."

The Weinstein Company owns Dimension and has hired Shawn Christensen ("Abduction") to write the script.

The Korean film is about a pawn shop owner who takes on a drug-and-organ trafficking ring to save his only friend, a child.

It grossed $42.5 million in South Korea.

Dimension acquired the rights from CJ Entertainment.
