Bob Cavallo will retire from his position as chairman of the Disney Music Group after 13 years with the Walt Disney Studios, Disney announced on Wednesday.
Ken Bunt, Disney Music's senior vice president of marketing, will take his place.
Cavallo, who oversaw Disney's transition to a powerhouse in the music industry with a roster of artists that includes Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez, will step down on January 31, 2012.
In making the announcement, Rich Ross, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, called Cavallo "nothing less than a legend in the music industry" who has been "a mentor and friend" not only to his colleagues at Disney but to the artists he's nurtured.
Cavallo declared that he was "so proud of where the music group has evolved to today."
Prior to coming aboard Disney, Cavallo had been a manager for such acts as Green Day, Prince, the Goo Goo Dolls and Earth Wind & Fire.
