Donald Trump’s Pitch for Black Vote: ‘What the Hell Do You Have to Lose?’ (Video)

GOP presidential candidate tells African-Americans that Hillary Clinton doesn’t care about them

Donald Trump took a unique approach Friday in an effort to attract African-American votes: “What the hell have you got to lose?” he asked from a Michigan podium.

Of course, he bashed Hillary Clinton first.

“No group in America has been more harmed by Hillary Clinton’s policies than African-Americans,” Trump said during a Dimondale rally. “It’s a disgrace.”

“Look how much African-American communities have suffered under Democratic control,” the GOP presidential candidate added. “To those I say, ‘What have you got to lose by trying something new, like Trump?'”

“You’re living in poverty,” Trump concluded. “Your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 50 percent of your youth is unemployed — what the hell do you have to use?”

Current polls have Trump at a one to two percent approval rating with African-Americans voters. Still, he champions himself as the candidate who will fight for them. He told the predominately white audience, “at the end of four years, I guarantee you that I will get over 95 percent of the African-American vote. I promise you. Because I will produce.”

Hillary Clinton’s campaign hit back hard in a press release that followed shortly after his appearance in the Michigan town about 90 miles northwest of Detroit.

“Donald Trump asks what the African American community has to lose by voting for him. The answer is everything from a man who questions the citizenship of the first African American President, courts white supremacists, and has been sued for housing discrimination against communities of color.”

It continues, “Trump painting the entire community as living in poverty with no jobs continues to show he is completely out of touch with the African American community.”
