President-elect Donald Trump met with Kanye West at Trump Tower on Tuesday morning and the media was completely caught off guard.

When the rapper appeared at Trump Tower, reporters were first hesitant to report it was to actually meet with Trump himself. West didn’t answer curious reporters’ questions as he entered the Manhattan building and stepped into an elevator with his entourage.

Cable news networks even broke into coverage to report West entering Trump Tower. Eventually, Trump spokeswoman Hope Hick confirmed the meeting and moments later the duo were posing for photos in the lobby while president-elect said they’ve “been friends for a long time.”

“You take care of yourself, I’ll see you soon,” Trump was heard telling West in front of reporters and photographers. TMZ reported West requested a 15-minute meeting with Trump but the media is busy scrambling to figure out why.

“We’ve been friends for a long time,” Trump said. “We discussed life.”

Trump has reportedly had troubled finding big-name acts to perform at his inauguration, so perhaps he will try to persuade Kanye to headline the gig.

West was recently hospitalization for exhaustion and sleep deprivation. The Grammy winner and husband of Kim Kardashian was admitted to a hospital under his own will last month after abruptly canceling the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour.
