Conan O’Brien Offers J.J. Abrams Some Alternate Titles For ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ (Video)

Nobody really likes ‘The Ancient Fear,’ do they?

“Star Wars” fans are a passionate and opinionated bunch, so of course they had plenty to say when reports started circulating that the title for J.J. Abrams‘ “Star Wars: Episode VII” might be “The Ancient Fear.” And most of it wasn’t all that positive. Luckily, Conan O’Brien has their backs. On Thursday night’s episode of “Conan,” he offered up a whole slew of alternate suggestions. And as the final name hasn’t been determined yet, maybe one of these has a legitimate shot … though, probably not.

Some titles were nods to other famous films, like “Greedo Gets His Groove Back” and “The Hangover Part IV.” Others spotlighted the plethora of “Star Wars” merchandise that will inevitably assault our senses when these films start getting released, like “Return of the Expensive, Collectible Action Figures” and “Product Placement on Planet Doritos.”

But one title spoke directly to all those who felt more than a little let down by “Star Wars: Episodes I-III.” If they want to lure back those lapsed fans who were disgusted by the prequel trilogy, they could take O’Brien up on his suggestion and name the next film, “Star Wars: Episode VII: Now 100% Lucas-Free.”
