Edward Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz Sign First Look Deal With Lionsgate TV

Duo is known for such series as “Thirtysomething” and “My So-Called Life”

Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz are returning to television with a first-look deal at Lionsgate TV, the company announced Wednesday.

The multi-year deal will see the duo behind such iconic series as “Thirtysomething” and “My So-Called Life” create and produce new scripted programming.

Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz are inspired filmmakers whose groundbreaking work revolutionized television drama,” said Lionsgate Television Group Chairman Kevin Beggs in a statement. “They are brilliant storytellers with a track record of creating compelling and memorable scripted shows, and we’re excited about exploring new creative opportunities together as we continue to expand our Lionsgate TV brand across multiple platforms.”

The partners, who were also behind “Relativity” and “Once and Again,” are also prolific and renowned for their big screen work, on films like “Legends of the Fall,” “The Last Samurai” and “Blood Diamond,” all of which were directed by Zwick.
