Elijah Wood to Star in ‘Treasure Island’; Confirmed for ‘Hobbit’

Eddie Izzard also stars in the Sky TV miniseries based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel

After much speculation, "Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood is now officially set to reprise the character of Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit," his publicist has confirmed to TheWrap. Additionally, Wood has also been set to play Ben Gunn in Stewart Harcourt's adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's adventure novel "Treasure Island."

Steve Barron is directing Sky TV's two-part, four-hour miniseries, which also stars Eddie Izzard.

Wood will next star in FX's new series "Wilfred," and he'll also lend his voice to Disney XD's "Tron: Uprising" and George Miller's "Happy Feet 2," which Warner Bros. is scheduled to release on Nov. 18.

Wood will be at Sundance next month co-starring alongside Seth Rogen and John C. Reilly in Adam Yauch's short film "Fight for Your Right Revisited."

Wood is represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
