Elizabeth Banks, Joel Edgerton to Receive Virtuosos Award at Santa Barbara Film Festival

Paul Dano and Jacob Tremblay will also receive the honor at the 31st annual ceremony

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced Tuesday that they will be honoring Elizabeth Banks (Love & Mercy), Joel Edgerton (Black Mass), Paul Dano (YouthLove & Mercy) and Jacob Tremblay (Room) with the 2016 Virtuosos Awards.

This award was created to recognize a special group of actors who have put in excellent performances in film during the past year.

“These performers have used their craft and respective roles to transport us through the varied lives of their characters,” SBIFF executive director Roger Durling said in a statement. “We have followed them along their artistic pursuits and are excited to join them in next steps of their journeys.”

Past recipients for this award include David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, J.K. SimmonsRooney Mara and Melissa McCarthy.

The festival previously announced that it will honor Johnny Depp (Black Mass) with its Maltin Modern Master Award and Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams (Spotlight) as an ensemble with its American Riviera Award.

The awards will be presented during the 31st annual festival running between February 3 to February 13, 2016.
