Ellen Page Coming Out Speech

Ellen Page came out as gay on Friday in a speech to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “Time to Thrive” event in Las Vegas.

“I’m here today because I am gay,” the 26-year-old “Juno” star told the audience. “Maybe I can help others to have an easier time … I do it selfishly because I am tired of hiding, I’m tired of lying by omission.”

On Twitter, her acting peers and media members reacted with stunned support, and, naturally, some requisite jokes.
