Missed out on Elon Musk’s fancy new flamethrowers? Don’t worry, he’s got another new product for you (wait for it): rocks.
The Tesla chief exec tweeted his tunnel company, The Boring Company, would have new merch soon on Sunday night: “lifesize Lego-like interlocking bricks made from tunneling rock that you can use to create sculptures & buildings.” Added Musk: “Rated for California seismic loads, so super strong, but bored in the middle, like an aircraft wing spar, so not heavy.”
New Boring Company merch coming soon. Lifesize LEGO-like interlocking bricks made from tunneling rock that you can use to create sculptures & buildings. Rated for California seismic loads, so super strong, but bored in the middle, like an aircraft wing spar, so not heavy.

Don’t sweat if it’s biodegradable, either, because it’s “literally made of rock,” as Musk made clear soon after. This new merch might not be the sexiest product launch from Musk, but it makes sense. The Boring Company has been drilling holes beneath the headquarters of his rocket company, SpaceX, in LA, as it looks to build a network of underground tunnels for commuters to get around town. All that tunneling leads to excess rock, and you’ve got to do something with it, apparently.
Musk said the first set of Boring Company Bricks will have an “ancient Egypt” theme — “pyramids, Sphinx, temple of Horus, etc.” If you have a little help, he said you can build your new pyramid-house in “a day or so.”
The bricks follow The Boring Company’s “initial hat offering,” which sold 30,000 lids in late 2017, and the 7,000 flamethrowers — for $500 a pop — the company sold earlier this year. And for those wondering, Musk said the building blocks will be “flamethrower-proof.”
