Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin Take on Mexican Drug Cartels in New ‘Sicario’ Trailer (Video)

Denis Villeneuve directed the crime drama, set for release on September 25

Emily Blunt stars as an FBI agent named Kate who knows she is out of her element in the new trailer for “Sicario.” The crime drama also stars Josh Brolin as an elite government task force official and Benicio Del Toro as the team’s enigmatic consultant.

In the trailer released Thursday by Lionsgate, Blunt’s character is enlisted to join the war against drugs and thrown into the lawless border area stretching between the United States and Mexico. Clearly insecure of her own abilities, Kate must question everyone and everything in order to survive.

“Sicario” translates as “hitman” in English.

Denis Villeneuve directed the movie from a screenplay by Taylor Sheridan.

“Sicario” showed at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival on May 19 and competed for the Palme d’Or.

The movie opens nationwide on September 25.
