Emmys: Twitter Is, Let’s Say, Split on Announcer Jermaine Fowler’s Performance

Although the 2017 Emmy Awards had barely begun, all it really took was a few trophies to be handed out before Twitter started to debate about announcer Jermaine Fowler’s performance.

The CBS “Superior Donuts” did all of the voice over work for Sunday evening’s show from a D.J. booth setup backstage, a stark contrast from how prior shows handled the P.A. duties. Some on social media dug the night’s fresh take, while others were straight-up annoyed by Fowler’s approach.

The stand-up comedian started the special with arguably a bit too much volume, to say the least. Since those early announcements, however, he toned it down a bit. Perhaps a producer had something to do with that.
