“Empire” co-creator zinged the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences after his hit Fox show failed to score a nomination in the Outstanding Drama Series category.

“F— these motherf—ers,” Daniels said in a video posted to his Instagram account. The statement all seemed to be in good fun, however, as “Empire” star Jussie Smollett laughed through the whole exchange with Daniels in the video.

Daniels also tagged the video, “#canfinallypostthis #timetoberealagain #emmyniceguyoverwith.” Though the show didn’t score a show nomination, Daniels still has some reason to celebrate: Taraji P. Henson, who plays Cookie on “Empire,” scored a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

In doing so, Henson made history, as she and fellow nominee Viola Davis are the first two African-American women to be nominated in the category.
