There were a slew of salacious developments on Wednesday’s episode of Fox’s breakout musical drama “Empire,” but those who missed it shouldn’t fret too much.
Ta’Rhonda Jones, who plays Cookie Lyon’s (Taraji P. Henson) assistant Porsha on the series, is back with an all new episode of “Empire Remix,” the post-show web series where she breaks down the latest major developments.
First up is Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), who is rushed to the hospital after a medical emergency on Wednesday’s episode, “Our Dancing Days.” However, one the way to the ER he surprisingly chooses Anika (Grace Gealey) to ride alongside him instead of Cookie.
“That’s cold,” says Porsha.
Lucious then gets unsettling news — the medicine he’s taking does him more harm than good.
“Turns out the new drug from Russia — don’t work,” c explains.
The recap cuts to a clip of Jamal (played by Jussie Smollett), Cookie’s son, breaking up with his partner: “Meanwhile, the only couple that’s actually functional breaks up,” Porsha explains. “If these two can’t make it work, what chance do the rest of us have?”
Eventually, Porsha brings it back to Lucious, who must disclose his recently diagnosed medical condition, ALS. He shares the bad news with Cookie and, after a short cry, the two of them have a steamy romantic interlude in the bedroom.
