‘Empire,’ ‘Star’ to Cross Over in Fox Fall Premiere Event (Video)

Jamal and Carlotta will pull double duty on Sept. 27

“Empire” and “Star” are about to make beautiful music together.

The two Fox series will have a mini-crossover on Sept. 27, when the latter’s Carlotta (Queen Latifah) guests on original hit hip-hop soap opera. Afterward, Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) will return the favor for “Star.”

Here’s the broadcast network’s description, per a Wednesday media release: On an epic night of music and drama, Carlotta comes face-to-face with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Jamal, as the worlds of “Empire” and “Star” collide.

The event begins with the Season 4 premiere of “Empire” at 8 p.m., which will be followed by the Season 2 start to “Star” at 9.

First up, on the brink of Empire Entertainment’s 20th anniversary, Lucious is making his first public appearance after the explosion in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, all members of the Lyon family — as well as Lucious’ nurse, Claudia (guest star Demi Moore) — have their own interests in Lucious regaining his physical and mental faculties. Then, on “Star,” the girls — with Carlotta as their manager — continue to face roadblocks, despite their victory at Atlanta NextFest.

Both series hail from 20th Century Fox Television and Lee Daniels. Watch a teaser for the two shows above.
