Exclusive: Jesse Eisenberg Takes Supporting Role in Indie Dramedy ‘Free Samples’

Jason Ritter co-stars along with Tippi Hedren, Hallie Pfeiffer, Keir O’Donnell, Jocelyn Donahue and Matt Walsh.

"The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg willl play a supporting role opposite Jess Weixler ("Teeth") in the indie dramedy "Free Samples," producer Joseph McKelheer has confirmed to TheWrap.

Jason Ritter, who previously shared the screen with Eisenberg in "The Education of Charlie Banks," will co-star along with Tippi Hedren, Hallie Pfeiffer, Keir O'Donnell, Jocelyn Donahue and Matt Walsh.

Weixler stars a a law school drop-out who fills in as a server as a friend's food truck, where she doles out free samples of ice cream. The job tests her patience, and while she figures out what to do with her life, she finds herself being courted by a young man (Eisenberg) whom she barely remembers from the night before.

Eisenberg's love interest character is described as a supporting role.

Jay Gammill is directing "Free Samples" from a script by Jim Beggarly, and Film Harvest's McKelheer and Eben Kostbar are producing.

The project doesn't have a release date yet but production is currently underway in Los Angeles.

Eisenberg recently wrapped Ruben Fleischer's comedy "30 Minutes or Less," which will be the future Oscar nominee's next project. He is represented by ICM while Weixler is repped by Gersh and Mosaic.
