The popular online movie ticketing company Fandango has joined forces with ArcLight Cinemas, adding the luxury movie chain to its list of movie theater options.
Now for the first time, customers will be able to purchase tickets for movies that are playing at ArcLight Cinemas.
The new deal expands Fandango’s share of Southern California’s ticketing marketplace to 90 percent of the moviegoing landscape — ArcLight has locations in Santa Monica, Pasadena, Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Beach Cities, Culver City and La Jolla. Fandango is a joint venture between NBCUniversal and Warner Bros.
ArcLight Cinemas and Fandango will be hosting special event screenings for moviegoers in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Santa Monica this fall. The events may feature talent and include exclusive receptions, movie-themed parties for families, special prizes, giveaways and more.
Fandango said it currently offers ticketing to more than 27,000 screens nationwide.
“ArcLight is a master at making moviegoing an event, with their deluxe cinemas, reserved seating, state-of-the-art presentation, gourmet cafes and full bars, and we’re thrilled to offer our customers the opportunity to experience movies uninterrupted at their world-class venues,” said Fandango senior vice president and head of commerce Kevin Shepela in a statement.
According to the ticketing company, Fandango’s ticket sales are up 50 percent year-over-year, and its app has been downloaded more than 80 million times, with 70 percent of its sales coming from mobile devices.
