Fergie ‘Butchers’ National Anthem at NBA All-Star Game, Internet Kneels to Laugh

Black Eyed Peas singer’s performance was “so bad that it made Colin Kaepernick stand up”

Just two weeks after Pink was praised for her national anthem performance at Super Bowl LII, Fergie was blasted for butchering it.

The Black Eyed Peas singer put on such a poor performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” ahead of Sunday’s NBA All-Stars game at Staples Center in Los Angeles that Twitter quickly exploded in outrage.

Many went the political route by describing it as Trump’s national anthem, while others referred to former NFL player Colin Kaepernick famously kneeling during the anthem in protest of police brutality, saying it was “so bad that it made Colin Kaepernick stand up.”

ESPN’s Darren Rovell captured the unimpressed looks on the players’ faces, and “SNL” comedian Leslie Jones offered to sing it herself next time.

BarkBox even asked followers to “tweet a pic of your pup’s reaction” to Fergie’s on-air debacle.
