“Flip or Flop” regular Frank “The Tank” offered an update on his health this week as he continues to battle cancer, saying that he was undergoing a tracheotomy after his airway began to close.
In a message posted to “Flip or Flop” star Tarek El Moussa’s Instagram account, Frank said that his cancer has continued to grow “even after two cycles of radiation and chemo.”
The contractor added that he began immunotherapy last month.
“Last Friday my airway started to close as the cancer continues to be aggressive and I have been admitted to the UCI hospital in Orange, Ca. I will be having tracheotomy surgery today and will be in ICU for 2-3 days,” Frank noted. “After that I will be able update my condition.”
He added, “I will be at UCI for at least another week before I go home to continue my fight. With all of your prayers and love I am so ready to fight even harder.”
Earlier this month, El Moussa posted a message from the contractor, who said that the cancer “has grown and spread” to the point where it has become inoperable.
“I am now trying to eat and drink orally at a slow pace. Thank you for your support which makes me want to fight that much harder,” he wrote.
Cancer has been an unsettlingly large presence among the “Flip or Flop” team in recent years. Tarek El Moussa was diagnosed with thyroid cancer after a registered nurse emailed the show’s production company in 2013 to suggest that Moussa get a medical checkup for a large nodule on his thyroid, according to The Independent.
The reality star revealed earlier this year that, a month after being told he had thyroid cancer, he was also diagnosed with testicular cancer.
In January, El Moussa gave fans an update on his condition, writing on Instagram that he was still free of cancer.
“Still #cancer #free!!!! Having cancer is a very scary thing… I always get nervous going into each check up and today I got GREAT news!!” El Moussa wrote.
