“Flip or Flop” returns with its Season 7 premiere Thursday, and series star Tarek El Moussa took to Instagram to offer fans a glimpse of what’s to come on the HGTV reality show.

Spoiler alert: Things seem to get a little weird between El Moussa and his co-star/ex-wife Christina El Moussa in the latest batch of episodes.

The new season comes following the couple’s breakup, which they announced in late 2016, and judging from a preview video shared by El Moussa the split looms large over the new episodes.

“Yes, we split up a while ago, but we kept doing the show,” Christina says in the teaser.

The decision to go forward with the show didn’t come without its hardships, judging by the teaser.

“It got a little awkward at times,” Tarek El Moussa admits at one point.

In another clip, Tarek declares, “I’m desensitized. I’m desensitized to everything.”

In a message accompanying the teaser, Tarek El Moussa acknowledges the “many ups and downs” that came with filming the new season.

“SEASON 7 premiere is tonight!!!…I can’t believe the time has come. We worked so hard this season (especially with many ups and downs????????????) and we can’t wait!!! ” El Moussa wrote. “The first episode is DIFFERENT than any Flip or Flop you have ever seen.”

The El Mousas announced their separation in December 2016, months after an incident involving Tarek and a gun.

In a statement issued to People, the stars of the HGTV series referenced the incident while announcing their split.

“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage,” the statement read. “We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.”

According to the El Moussas, they broke up following a May incident during which law enforcement responded to a call of a “possibly suicidal male with a gun.” The call was made after Tarek retrieved a gun from a safe in the couple’s Orange County, California, home and wandered into Chino Hills State Park.
