Focus Features Unveils Release Dates for Wes Anderson, Paul Weitz Films

The indie label also announces roll-out plans for Steve Carell and Keira Knightley comedy

Focus Features has firmed up release dates for new pictures from Wes Anderson ("Rushmore") and Paul Weitz ("About a Boy"), as well as a Steve Carell and Keira Knightley comedy.

The biggest name of the bunch is Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom," which reunites the auteur with previous collaborators Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman.

The film also stars Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand and is set in a small town off the coast of New England in the 1960s. It centers on a pair of young lovers who run away together. Expect plenty of British invasion favorites and meticulously designed, to the point of fetishistic, sets.

It will open in select cities on May 25, 2012.

Then there's "Being Flynn," a new drama from Weitz. The movie stars Paul Dano as a young writer struggling to connect with his estranged father (Robert De Niro). The film will open in select cities on March 2.

Lastly, Focus has "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," which features the unlikely pairing of Carell and Knightley. It marks the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Lorene Scafaria ("Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist") and is set in a too-near future when humanity’s last days are at hand. That one will open in theaters nationally on April 20.
