Foo Fighters Punk Fans With ‘Official Band Announcement’ Amid Breakup Rumors (Video)

Watch Nick Lachey try out to be the new Dave Grohl

The Foo Fighters unveiled a highly anticipated “Official Band Announcement” video via YouTube on Wednesday, timed to a ton of breakup rumors and talk of Dave Grohl going solo.

Spoiler alert: Neither of those things are happening.

Not only are the Foo members still tight, they proved with the video that their collective sense of humor is still very much intact.

In the very funny seven-minute video, which is posted above, Grohl uses his Oscars In Memoriam moment as fuel to forge a one-man career. The former Nirvana drummer takes some terrible advice and goes the electronica route.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Foo Fighters scramble to replace their now-former frontman.

The guys consider Sammy Hagar (naturally), Gwen Stefani (for the “sex appeal”), Billy Corgan, Chris Cornell, “Eddie” (Vedder?), Phil Collins (the original drummer to come out front), Prince and even Justin Bieber.

Liam Gallagher and Diplo are also considered, as is a vocals promotion from within. Eventually the fellas settle on Nick Lachey, who belts out “Everlong.”

“For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up,” on-screen text reads at the conclusion of the clip. “And nobody’s going fucking solo!”
