God is headed to Broadway.
Former “Daily Show” head writer and exec producer David Javerbaum‘s critically acclaimed satire, “The Last Testament: A Memoir by God,” will be adapted for the Broadway stage for a play produced Tony nominee Jeffrey Finn (“The Realistic Joneses”), with a run scheduled to start in 2015.

Javerbaum, who won 11 Emmys while with Jon Stewart‘s program, is also the man behind the popular Twitter account @TheTweetOfGod, which has over 1.2 million followers.
Similarly, the book’s gag is that Javerbaum is simply the long-suffering messenger for the Almighty, a running joke that will continue as he adapts the book for the stage.

“I am deeply disappointed that Jeffrey Finn has decided to produce this show,” Javerbaum said. “It will force me to continue my unwanted professional association with God, an abstract entity who has given me nothing but discomfort and agita. It is my desperate hope that we close out of town.”
No cast or creative team has been announced. Javerbaum has written songs for Neil Patrick Harris‘ run of Tony Awards hosting gigs, including “Broadway is Not Just for Gays Anymore,” and has his own Tony nomination for the score to the 2008 musical “Cry-Baby.”
