Former Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Carlos Gray was discovered shot to death in his home near Birmingham, Alabama, on Monday night.

The 25-year-old was shot at his Pinson home at 9:56 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, AI.com reported. Sheriff’s deputies and Center Point Fire and Rescue were dispatched his house after a friend found him wounded and unresponsive.

Gray was signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He was released after training camp when the team made final cuts to reduce its roster to 53 players, a team spokesman said Tuesday.

While searching the house for additional victims or evidence, detectives found marijuana, digital scales, a Glock handgun with an extended magazine and an AK-47 rifle with a large capacity magazine.

A graduate of Pinson Valley High High School, Gray played football at North Carolina State before declaring for the NFL Draft in 2014.

Gray was the father of two young children, and recently made a living renovating houses, selling cars and working as a party promoter, AI.com reported.
