‘Frozen’ Broadway Musical Drops Elsa’s New Song ‘Monster’ (Video)

Song is performed by Caissie Levy and written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez

The first of four songs from the new “Frozen” Broadway musical was released on Friday, the day after its first Broadway performance.

Titled “Monster,” the song is performed by Caissie Levy, who sings it in for a new Act Two solo for Elsa. An accompanying music video featuring Levy and other members of the “Frozen” cast and shot at Gotham Hall in Manhattan earlier this month was also released.

“Monster” was written by the Oscar-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez.

It was previously announced that four of the 12 new songs written for the musical would be released on consecutive Fridays beginning Feb. 23.

While Levy stars as Elsa, Patti Murin plays Anna.  Other principal cast members include Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, Greg Hildreth as Olaf, John Riddle as Hans and Robert Creighton as Duke of Weselton.

Levy has starred in the Broadway musicals “Ghost,” “Wicked” and the 2014 revival of “Les Miserables.” Murin was last seen in the original Broadway productions of “Lysistrata Jones” and “Xanadu.”

The “Frozen” feature film won Oscar for Best Song (“Let It Go”) and Best Animated Feature in 2014.

The musical is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.
