FX Networks Promotes 3 Programming Veterans to EVP

Gina Balian, Nicole Clemens and Jonathan Frank will all continue to report to Nick Grad and Eric Schrier

FX Networks has promoted veteran entertainment programming execs Gina Balian, Nicole Clemens and Jonathan Frank to executive vice president level.

Balian will serve as EVP, Limited Series; Clemens has the role in Series Development; and Frank will take the title at Current Series.

“In expanding to a record 20 series, we have managed to field the strongest program line-up in FX Networks’ history and a great deal of the credit goes to Gina, Nicole and Jonathan,” Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, said. “They are, without question, three of the best executives in the business. Their unwavering support of our talent fosters a fearless creative environment that allows artists to create their best work.”

All three newly upped employees will continue to report to Grad and Schrier.

As executive vice president of Limited Series for FX Networks, Balian will continue to oversee the strategic development and production of original limited series. The former senior vice president developed FX Networks’ first limited series, “Fargo,” as well as the upcoming “American Crime Story.” Balian, who joined the company in 2012, was also the boss on Fox’s “Wayward Pines.” Previously, she was at HBO.

Clemens will continue to oversee the strategic development of new drama and comedy series. In her prior SVP role, she developed “The Strain,” “The Bastard Executioner,” “You’re the Worst,” “Married” and “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll,” among others. Clemens also joined FX Networks in 2012. Before that, she was a partner and head of the motion picture literary department at ICM Partners.

Frank oversees all facets of day-to-day production for the entire slate of FX Networks’ original programming, including “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Archer,” “Louie,” and “The League,” in addition to several of the aforementioned shows. He is also is the day-to-day executive overseeing the untitled Tig Notaro pilot produced by FX Productions for Amazon.

In 2008, Frank joined FX as vice president of Current Programming and was promoted to senior vice president in 2011. Before that, he was head of TV at Mark Johnson Productions.
