Galifianakis to Produce, Maybe Star in DreamWorks’ ‘Reply All’

Phil Johnston (“Cedar Rapids”) will write and executive produce the comedy

"Dinner for Schmucks" star Zach Galifianakis is returning to the DreamWorks fold, as the studio has picked up the comedy pitch "Reply All" for the actor to produce and potentially star in, Galifianakis' representation at CAA has confirmed to TheWrap.

Galifianakis will play a guy who hits the “reply all” button to an indiscreet e-mail, and then has to deal with the repercussions.

Phil Johnston will write "Reply All" as a star vehicle for Galifianakis, as well as exec produce. The project was pitched around town earlier this week before DreamWorks decided to make a preemptive purchase and take it off the table.

Galifianakis next stars opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Todd Phillips' road comedy "Due Date," and hopefully his growing popularity will entice people to check out his performance in Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden's psych ward dramedy "It's Kind of a Funny Story." He's also set to reprise his role as lovable screw-up Alan Garner in Todd Phillips' sequel to "The Hangover."

Galifianakis currently stars on HBO's private detective series "Bored to Death," and he most recently appeared on the big screen as the homicidal Hermit in Anchor Bay's "Operation: Endgame."

Johnston recently wrote Miguel Arteta's upcoming comedy "Cedar Rapids" for Fox Searchlight.

In addition to CAA, Galifianakis is represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners, while Johnston is represented by UTA and Industry Entertainment.
