Can ‘Game of Thrones’ Beer Dull the Pain of Season 7 Delay? (Video)

We tried Brewery Ommegang’s “Bend the Knee Golden Ale” to answer this important question

Normally by this point in May, we’d be almost halfway through the latest season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Sadly, because winter has finally arrived in Westeros, production on the show was delayed in 2016 to allow for filming during actual snowy weather. Which means, of course, that “Game of Thrones” Season 7 won’t air until mid-July.

Like many of you, we’re pretty sad about having to wait longer than usual for our Seven Kingdoms fix and desperate to fill the void with something, anything. Fortunately, “anything” turned out to be “Bend the Knee Golden Ale,” the latest beer from Brewery Ommegang, the Cooperstown, New York-based company that has made “Game of Thrones”-branded brews since 2013.

TheWrap’s Phil Owen and Ross Lincoln — who, it should be noted, are not beer experts — decided to test “Bend the Knee” for themselves to see if it successfully dulled the pain of having to wait for “Game of Thrones” to return. Spoiler alert: it was delicious, but the show is still delayed by three months. See the results in the video above.

If you’re interested in trying “Bend the Knee,” it’s available on draft and in a series of three collectible 750ml bottles, all finished in matte black and adorned with one of the three Great House sigils: Stark, Targaryen or Lannister.
