George Clooney Debuts on ‘Downton Abbey’ in New Teaser (Video)

Here’s a first look of the A-list actor rubbing elbows with the Crawley family

The latest guest to arrive at Downton Abbey is none other than George Clooney. While the Oscar winner’s special appearance was previously announced, this is the first look at Clooney’s debut on the hit British series.

The teaser video was released as part of ITV’s holiday charity campaign, “Text Santa,” and clocks in at just 8 seconds long. Clooney is seen but not heard as he turns to talk to Lady Cora, played by actress Elizabeth McGovern. Standing next to Clooney is Cousin Rose, played by Lily James, who fans know to be a notorious flirt when it comes to handsome men in her presence.

Very little is known about Clooney’s character, but judging by Cora calling him, “dearest,” he might be mistaken for Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville). Perhaps Clooney is coming to the Crawley estate to play Robert’s long-lost brother?

The special will air Dec. 19 in the U.K. Fans in America will have to wait for “Downton Abbey’s” fifth season when it premieres on PBS on Jan. 4.

Or, you know, you can just watch it on the internet when video no doubt becomes available soon after the Christmas special airs.
