George H.W. Bush died Friday night at age 94. By Saturday morning, the tributes had been pouring in for hours — and even the generally liberal Hollywood had some kind words to say about the former Republican president and Navy fighter pilot.

“I will never forget George H.W. Bush and President Clinton meeting me in my old hometown of New Orleans to show support and raise money after Hurricane Katrina,” Ellen DeGeneres wrote on Twitter. “I send my love to his family tonight.”

Actor Gary Sinise posted a photo of him and President Bush in the back of a car, captioning it: “Spent a wonderful day at College Station back in 2011. George H.W. Bush. Thank you for your service sir. R.I.P. God bless.”

Alyssa Milano remembered the 41st president of the United States with a quote of his: “We are a nation of communities… a brilliant diversity spread like stars, like a thousand points of light in a broad and peaceful sky,” adding “Rest In Peace.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook called Bush “a great American,” while Marlee Matlin praised the progress seen through his Americans With Disabilities Act.

Comedian Kathy Griffin tweeted, “I didn’t agree with President Bush on much, but I never doubted his love of country.”
