George R.R. Martin to Moderate ‘Game of Thrones’ Panel at Comic-Con

HBO also announces a “True Blood” panel at the geek-friendly July event and a start date for production on “GoT” season two

Impressively bearded fantasy novelist George R.R. Martin, whose epic "A Song of Fire and Ice" series forms the basis for HBO's "Game of Thrones," will moderate a panel with the show's creators and cast at Comic-Con 2011 on Thursday, July 21.

Martin will speak to show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and cast members Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen).

HBO also reveals that "Game of Thrones" will enter production on season two on July 23, just two days after the Comic-Con panel.

Just as season one of the show confined itself to events from Martin's first "Fire and Ice" novel "A Game of Thrones," season two is expected to be based on the next book in the series, "A Clash of Kings."

On July 22, HBO will also stage its fourth consecutive "True Blood" panel at Comic-Con. Cast members Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell and others are scheduled to appear along with creator Alan Ball.
