It’s a good thing Kevin Hart is not the type of person to let setbacks discourage him.
The “Get Hard” star appeared on “Conan” Tuesday and discussed his calamitous audition for “Saturday Night Live” early in his career.
“I did an impression of Avery Johnson,” Hart said to a clueless Conan. “I did an impression of a person that nobody knew.”
Hart explained that Johnson was an NBA player and later coach, not that it helped him much when he met “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels.
“[Lorne] didn’t say he didn’t know who that was, but I could tell he definitely didn’t know,” Hart said, and then reenacted his entire audition.
In his best Avery Johnson voice, Hart said, “‘I’ma pass the ball to David Robinson’…And when I did it, I stepped back as if it was great.”
