‘Girls Gone Wild’ Creator Sheds Tax Prosecution

Joe Francis has pleaded guilty to two tax evasion charges and will not have to spend time in prison.

Joe Francis, creator of the raunchy "Girls Gone Wild" franchise, has pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges and will pay about $250,000 to settle the case.

By copping the plea, Francis avoids any additional time in prison.

He was facing up to a 10-year term in a case that involved two counts of tax evasion and the attempted bribery of jailhouse authorities for preferential treatment.

U.S. District Judge James Otero accepted the plea in Los Angeles, giving Francis credit for his time already spent in jail.

The feds greatly reduced the amount of money that Francis was accused for not reporting. It was connected with a luxury home in Mexico.

Francis thanked his legal team in California and Nevada, saying they could "recognize the truth."

"I’m happy to finally be able to redirect my attention to the business at hand, which is to provide quality entertainment for our millions of fans around the world," Francis said in the statement.
