Sony Classics Gets ‘Restless’ With Gus Van Sant

Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Bryce Dallas Howard produced the coming-of-age story about two outsiders brought together by unforeseen circumstances

Gus Van Sant's new movie "Restless" will be released in North America by Sony Pictures Classics, the company announced Thursday.

Sony Pictures Releasing International is distributing the film in the rest of the world.

Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Bryce Dallas Howard produced the film under the Imagine Entertainment banner.

Jason Lew wrote the script that stars Harry Hopper, Mia Wasikowska, Ryo Kase, Schuyler Fisk and Luisa Strus.

The movie is about a terminally ill teenage girl who falls in love with a boy who likes to attend funerals. The other twist: the two encounter the ghost of a Japanese kamikaze pilot.

Sony Pictures Classics expects to release the movie in the fall.
