Sean Hannity had some advice for potential targets of the Mueller probe: maybe you should destroy evidence. After all — that’s what the host says Hillary Clinton did.
“Maybe Mueller’s witnesses, I don’t know, if I advised them to follow Hillary Clinton’s lead,” Hannity said. “Delete all your emails, and then acid wash the emails and hard drives on your phones, then take your phones and bash them with a hammer into little itsy bitsy pieces, use BleachBit, remove the sim cards.”
“And then take the pieces and hand it over to Robert Mueller and say, ‘Hillary Rodham Clinton, this is equal justice under the law,” he added.
Hannity chuckled at the idea but warned potential witnesses watching that going the supposed Hillary route probably wouldn’t turn out as well for them.
“How do you think that would work out for everybody,” he asked. “I’m certain the result would not be the same as Hillary’s.”
Hannity’s imaginative riff is based on the longstanding gripe that he, and many on the right, have had over how Clinton handled evidence during the FBI investigation of her emails. The former secretary of state was formally cleared of legal wrongdoing by the agency and James Comey in July 2016.
The Fox News primetime host is known to be President Trump’s closest ally in the media. In addition to regularly defending Trump on television, the two are known to be in constant contact and even shared the same personal attorney, Michael Cohen.
Hannity will fly to Singapore next week to host his show live from the country during the historic summit meeting between Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
