‘The Hobbit’ Director Peter Jackson Gives Fans a Studio Tour (Video)

In his latest video diary, Peter Jackson offers a peek behind the curtain at the production facility where the "Hobbit" magic is made

You have to give "The Hobbit" director Peter Jackson credit — he's been extremely generous in giving fans behind-the-scenes glimpses of the upcoming J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation.

Jackson's latest video diary from the New Zealand production of "The Hobbit" takes viewers on a tour of the New Zealand studio where production has taken place.

The 14-minute video includes drop-ins at the trailer park where the cast has resided over the course of the production, along with the costume workshop, hair and makeup department, and other spots on the compound.

Some of the highlights include a prop-sword fight in the stunt department, and a look at how the barrel scene is being handled.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" hits theaters in December. In the meantime, enjoy this peek behind the curtain where the magic is made.
